Field to Fridge
Winter Rape - August
Winter oilseed rape is particularly prone to pigeon damage and so farmers seek to establish a thick crop before cold weather sets in.
A cultivator on the front of a tractor works the ground infront of the drill. Cultivations late in August often conflict with continuing harvest operations.
A lumpy seedbed after drilling will encourage slugs and result in uneven germination. This seedbed will need to be rolled.
