The
CLA aims to be the premier organisation dedicated to safeguarding the
interests of those responsible for land, property and business throughout
rural England and Wales.
Founded in 1907 to promote and protect the interests of owners of agricultural
and rural land in England and Wales, today the CLA membership encompasses
the full diversity of business and professional interests.
Non-party political, the CLA works hard to influence decision makers using the extensive experience and expertise of its members and staff, to ensure the positive development of the rural economy.
The CLA strives to achieve this by being professional, relevant and forward looking. In addition to providing leadership and a voice where it matters, the CLA members receive specialist advice and access to an extensive and influential network of likeminded people throughout the rural economy.
The CLA retains its own in-house professional advisory team which includes
barristers, tax specialists, planning experts and surveyors who provide
unlimited, independent and impartial information on a wide range of
issues. This is only a phone call, or e-mail, away and free to members.
The CLA also prepares a wide range of Guidance Notes which provide practical
advice and assistance on problems faced by members. CLA Guidance notes
are available to members.
