The

The
contribution of agriculture to the economy as a percentage of GDP. At
0.8%, agriculture in the UK is less important as an industry than in
any other nation bar the city states.
However
tempting it is to think of farmers being cossetted in a subsidy world
and enjoying the high life, average net farm income tells a very different
story.

appears no end in sight to the political indifference to the appalling
state of the UK's balance of trade in foodstuffs.

The
Total Income from Farming (TIFF) is an aggregate measure of income
across agriculture in the UK.

Comment: It is clear to see that the economic trends have fluctuated in the farming industry based on the last few years. However, a decrease in the 000's of farming workforce may lead to an overall decline of the industry as more farms than ever are diversifying into leisure and tourism, whilst neglecting the importance of farming and agriculture itself.
