University of LeedsThe Centre for Animal Sciences (CAS), together with the Centre for Plant Sciences (CPS), form the Leeds Institute for Plant Biotechnology and Agriculture (LIBA). The Centre is within the School of Biology which is a constituent part of the Faculty of Biological Sciences.

The general theme of the research programme is the application of scientific knowledge to improving understanding of the nutrition and physiology of farm animals and its application to animal production. As part of one of the largest concentrations of biological scientists in the UK, and within the largest single-campus University in the UK, one of the great strengths of the Centre is its ability to draw on expertise in a wide range of disciplines, from Molecular Biochemistry to Psychology, from Food Science to Artificial Intelligence. The research programmes attract funding from Government, charity and industrial sources, including the European Union and overseas companies.
