Eden Ostrich World

Description of Farm:

Eden Ostrich World is a family run business hosting a working farm and visitors centre, which opened to the public in 1998. Diversification came about due to the dramatic changes within the agricultural industry: as it became more difficult to survive whilst farming new ideas started to emerge and after several years planning we created and opened our doors to the public as Eden Ostrich World.

Matson Ground Farm

Description of Farm:

Matson Ground Farm comprises 420ha of land, of which about 290ha is grazing land. The residual is woodland. All land is entered into a Higher Level Environmental Stewardship Agreement with DEFRA. Our sheep flock is made up of 450 Swaledale ewes and 540 mule ewes. We have 80 suckler cows, mostly beef shorthorn.

Smithills Open Farm

Description of Farm:

Set within 70 acres of rolling countryside a few miles north of Bolton, Smithills Open Farm is a family run business where nothing sits still. Not even our stick insects. The farm itself is constantly evolving, with new animals coming to stay every week. We provide homes for everything from cows, pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits, llamas, owls, eagles, donkeys, ducks and deer. In fact, we have over 25 different types of residents. Some are more furry than others. But all are lovely. Even our Burmese pythons.

Bowland Wild Boar Park

Description of Farm:

See and feed our wildlife which includes Deer, Llamas, Goats. We have lots for kids to do including pedal tractor area, tractor rides, play area, lamb Llama and deer feeding (when available). Farmer Ted's Farm Park

Description of Farm:

Farmer Ted's is an interactive children's activity park, sited on a working farm within the beautiful Lancashire countryside. The Farm Park's aim is to provide a fun, family orientated atmosphere where Mums and Dads will feel just as comfortable as the Kids. The attraction offers an educational, safe and fun place for the whole family to visit. We also run a membership scheme, birthday parties and a range of activities all year round! But on top of all that Farmer Ted's also specialise in providing educational day trips for the North West's schools by covering the national curriculum, in order to teach the children about farming, animals and food. This is conducted via a "hands on" approach in a safe and fun environment.

Thornton Hall Farm Country Park

Description of Farm:

Windmill Animal Farm

Description of Farm:

Windmill Animal Farm was first opened to the public in 1992 and offers visitors the chance to experience the every day running of an actual working farm while still having the chance to watch, feed, touch and play with animals. As well as these beautiful and unusual animals to see, the farm has three marvelous children's play areas. The indoor play barn, one of the largest in the North West, the new outdoor play area by the main farm complex and the second new outdoor play area by Lake View, which can be reached by our beautiful miniature train that crosses the farm. Pedal tractors can be ridden around the farm by the children, who are most welcome to step into the ‘Children’s Pet Area’ to feed and play with the animals.

Acorn Farm

Description of Farm:

Acorn Farm was created in 1985 on 4 hectares of derelict land, which had once been a tip for builder’s rubble, with a rabbit and two gerbils. It has since grown into an award winning visitor attraction which is home to a wide range of farm animals and employs 28 full time, part time and seasonal staff. The project has strong roots in the local community and we believe that everyone has a valued social role to play within their community. Therefore at Acorn Farm we are proud to have individuals of different ages and abilities working together as a team in all aspects of running the farm.

Broom House Farm

Description of Farm:

Our farm is a modern working farm. We grow a range of arable crops to provide feed and straw bedding for our livestock in the winter - Aberdeen Angus cows, sheep and rare breed Saddleback pigs. We also have a small scale poultry enterprise.
