Milk Production - 6.00am
The milking parlour is kept clean and clear of obstructions during milking time. The hoses for washing the cows udders are suspended from the ceiling.
On arrival in the parlour each cow is entered into the computer. This allocates the correct amount of feed and records the amount of milk she produces.
The udders of cows are first washed then dried before the cluster is placed on the teats. This ensures that no muck can get from the teat into the milk.
The cluster on the teats works by providing a pulsating vacuum that stimulates the cow to "let down" her milk.
After milking the cows udder is sprayed with an iodine solution that helps prevent infection.
When the whole herd has been milked everything is washed down and scrubbed clean.
