Spring Barley - January

Spring barley offers the opportunity for farmers to over winter the stubble of the previous crop as per this wheat stubble. Over wintered stubbles provide a beneficial environment for farmland birds.

A stubble turnip that was sown into the stubble immediately after harvest. This will be grazed by sheep to provide fertility before the barley is sown.
