Spring Rape - May
Before the crop has emerged a herbicide spray is used. This controls problem weeds but does not affect the oilseed rape. An application of fertiliser is also applied to the seedbed.
Two weeks later the young cotyledons of the plant emerge. These seedlings are very prone to insect and pigeon attack
Spraying an insecticide to control pests that attack the young crop. The insecticide is a manufactured version of naturally occurring permethrin.
Young plants at the end of the month.
