Winter Wheat - October
Drilling the winter wheat crop.
Drilling is underway. The green cultivator at the front of the tractor moves the earth enough to allow the drill to sow the seed into the ground.
Drill detail, the coulters of the drill are the red tubes that allow the seed to drop into a channel in the soil.
Drills are usually between 3 and 6 metres wide and may need to be mounted sideways on a trailer for road transport.
The young crop on a frosty morning in late October.
