Genesis QA is a new type of farm assurance business. Established in 1998, Genesis QA objective is to make effective assurance an essential tool in the profitable management of farm business.

Genesis QA believe effective farm assurance is crucial to the sustainable development of UK agriculture and to securing markets for the high quality produce grown and reared in the UK. However, Genesis QA research showed many farmers felt schemes failed to meet their needs and saw assurance as expensive and cumbersome.

To work, Genesis QA believe assurance must be seen as a crucial management aid, just like an agronomy package or a lambing record.

The scheme must be based on making the most of existing records and on practical commonsense. So Genesis QA developed the first modular assurance scheme, meaning that all enterprises could be covered by one assurance business. It also means that key areas of business used by several enterprises, eg. the medicines cupboard, only need to be assessed once. Genesis QA were also the first company to state that to be effective, assurance had to be based on an annual assessment.

Genesis QA are the only scheme to incorporate a wide range of plans and protocols. In that way Genesis assurance is helping with key areas such as COSHH and Health and Safety. This is another example of how assurance can become integrated into everyday best management practice.

Genesis QA have been accepted by the industry. Genesis QA arable, beef and sheep modules are approved to use the Red Tractor logo and the majority of millers, maltsters and compounders welcome Genesis assured grain.
